Grant's Galleries

My passion for wildlife photography started when one of my guests gave me his digital camera. Thanks to him the passion is still growing in me every single day. To me wild life photography is about capturing the elements and events during that specific time, 50 years from now that scene will still reflect the happenings of that day and time frame in that image.

My favorite subject to photograph is lions and  Derek Joubert and his Wife Beverley are wildlife photographers and film makers. They are reflecting their passion and my passion for lions  in the best words possible  : “ It is a live and a passion in a place by just finding your subject is challenging enough. I love this life, we get to look into the eyes of predators and death in many ways each day and that challenges you. We get to just a few paces away and know a few lions just by  sight, they are all  different. “

You can also visit the Photo-Africa Blog or Photo-Africa Stock Library. All my images are available for commercial and editorial work. Please feel free to contact me ,I will be working on freelance basis.

Thank you for sharing my work and my passion.

Wildlife & Nature

When I am photographing wild life my passion lies in capturing  all the elements that are involved in the scene without interrupting the animals natural  behavior. I suppose capturing a sleeping lion is not difficult but looking into the eyes of the apex predator and capturing the essence of the scene is challenging enough. Wild  life photography to me is part adventure, part art and part science

Landscapes

Capturing people young and old doing something they are passionate about like a 16 year old schoolboy scoring a try for his team is priceless. I offer this service to any organization like schools , universities or any event organizer. Taking images of events must be done in such a way that the images can be used in marketing like brochures.

Hospitality & Lodges

Photographing a wine  glass on a table is no art, but to make it attractive enough to lure clients is challenging enough. It is very important that the images you use in your brochures are done in such a way that the clients would want to see more, by that I mean coming to stay at your lodge. There are quite a few areas I focus on in hospitality photography, that is interior, food/beverage and activity images. I believe that are four reasons why people come and stay at your lodge. When they look at a brochure they want to know where is the main area, what they eat and where they sleep. Activities are also very important.  The  key to sell your lodge, hotel or guesthouse are the images on your brochure.

Portraits, People &
 African Life

Photographing people are very difficult because we all are different. That is why I like the challenge. Capturing the natural behavior, action, posing and personalities is what makes people images work. I believe the key is to capture somebody without him/her knowing it. Then you see the real unmasked personality. There is a time and place for posed photographs as well for example school photographs. African life images are great art work and make amazing canvas prints that are blocked or framed, I believe there are a big market for African life art.

Weddings  Photographs are the most essential reminders of your wedding day, and remain valuable for generations to come. Ask any wedding photographer, it is an art.  You have two elements working against  you, personalities and weather. That is why it is important to make the person in front of your camera as comfortable as possible.

” When all is said and done the weather and love are two elements about which one can never be sure “ Alice Hoffman.

About Grant

Since I was a youngster I was intrigued by nature.

Straight after school I started guiding on a reserve adjacent to Kruger National Park. I also did my diploma in Nature conservation and worked in conservation for a few years and really saw one does this job for the love of it......I really enjoy it.

I did black rhino monitoring for a few years. I was the area manager on a big reserve called Zingela, and was involved with all aspects of conservation, game capture, chemical capture, monitoring, culling, paper work and much more. I then decided to try the tourism industry again where I am currently at a lodge in Madikwe game reserve.

My love for photography flamed up here. The reason I enjoy it so much is as I always tell my guests " always expect the unexpected in the African bush".

I hope you enjoy my work!
