Gerry's Galleries

To me photography is about capturing a slice of time.  Telling a story with a single image.  It's about seeing light, texture, composition, emotion and  making all of these come together in a photograph that will recall that one moment in time many years from now.

In these galleries you will see but a small number of my images, optimised and categorised for easy navigation.  You can browse the galleries by clicking on any of the images below.  You can also visit the Photo-Africa Stock Library and Photo-Africa Blog to view more of my work.

All my images are available for once off or licensed commercial, editorial or personal use.  Please email me for more information.  I also offer various photographic services on a freelance basis so feel free to contact me with any of your photographic requirements.

Thank you for viewing my work.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Gerry

PS: At this stage I have only activated a few of the flash galleries.  The other links will be activated in the next two weeks.  G  3/12/2008

Wildlife & Nature View Gerry's African Wildlife & Nature Photogrpahy! Wildlife photography is more than just taking pictures of animals.  It is a way to connect with nature.  To watch, learn and become a part of Africa's beautiful natural heritage.  This is my passion.

Landscapes There are many factors that have to come together when photographing landscapes.  This endless pursuit of location, light, weather and a little bit of luck makes this a great journey of photographic discovery.

Hospitality & Lodges View Gerry's Hospitality Photography!

Hospitality photography is about making your product as attractive as possible and, by making it look better, more attractive to your customers and clients.

The images that you use for brochures, marketing and on your website should showcase and highlight the various aspects of your business that makes it unique.  These should focus on everything from the architecture and interiors of your building to food, beverage and activities offered.

Portraits & People

People are different.  Personalities are different and therefore need to be photographed differently.  When shooting portraits, by getting a person to relax in front of the camera you will be able to capture their true personality.  Candid images can also show a person's true colours by capturing them without any masks.

Weddings

Few days which can match a wedding for emotion and beauty, love and joy and these must all be captured for you to remember.

Your wedding photographs should ensure the sheer beauty of the day will never be forgotten.

Lines, Shape, Textures When an average looking scene catches your eye you are on your way to creating beautiful images by using lines, shapes and textures.  These photographic building blocks can be used to enhance your photography in general or they can stand alone as beautiful works of art.

About Gerry

I was born and educated in South Africa and after travelling around the world for almost 10 years, first with the SA Gymnastics team and then managing Health and Wellness aboard the Queen Mary 2, I have settled back in South Africa.

During my travels I was always photographing places and people with a small digital camera but when I bough my first DSLR camera I was hooked and have been ever since.

Like many photographers I have been mostly self-taught but have done a few courses in order to better understand the basics.  Something I feel is very important.

As I am currently working in the Lodge & Hospitality Industry I have had the most amazing opportunities to photograph nature, people and the various lodges I have worked at and visited.

After self-publishing two of my own coffee table books I am  actively seeking further publishing opportunities, both for images and articles.

As a freelance photographer I offer a wide variety of services so please contact me with any photographic requirements that you might have.  I pride myself on a professional product, service and communication throughout the entire photographic process.

Thank you for viewing my work and I look forward to hearing from you!

Gerry

About Photo-Africa

After running my own photography website for a number of years I started Photo-Africa at the end of 2007 as a means to share my own images, thoughts and stories with a wider audience.

Subsequent to being approached by many wildlife photographers and field guides and ultimately expanding the site to include their images as well the site started growing at a rapid rate.  With numerous photographers adding their diverse images, Photo-Africa soon became one of the most unique and regularly updated databases of African wildlife and nature images available on the internet.

Photo-Africa continues to grow significantly and with the addition of the Photo-Africa Stock Library and the Photo-Africa Blog currently attracts more than 7000 unique visitors per month.

All the images on the Photo-Africa sites have been compressed slightly but I have tried to retain as much of the original details as possible.  All these images are available for commercial, personal or editorial use.  Should you have any specific requests or queries on  please do not hesitate to contact me.

I design and maintain all the Photo-Africa sites myself so if you have any comments or suggestions I would love to hear from you.

If you are interested in any further information on Photo-Africa, whether it be advertising, links or adding your own images to the site, please contact me.
