Winning Image from the Melville Photowalk

As you will have read on the blog, the Worldwide Photowalk took place a few weeks ago.  Not wildlife photography but a huge amount of fun, lots of inspiration and something we all need to do more often!

I led the Melville, Johannesburg Photowalk and after a fantastic morning of photography the time has arrived to choose the winning image.

Not to take away anything from the other entries into the competition as they are all great, but after a look through all the amazing images it was quite an easy choice.

Congratulations to David Barnes whose image will now be entered into the Worldwide Photowalk competition.

David Barnes - Winning Image from Melville Photowalk

Love this image.

The mood.  The muted colors.  The blurred action which makes you wonder if the car is already over the traffic light or whether he is gunning it because it’s orange.  Great image all round!  And to top it all off, this image was shot handheld.  Well done David!

You can view a larger version of this image by clicking on the thumbnail at the top of this post.

Also make sure to pop in at the official Worldwide Photowalk site to see all the images from the Melville Photowalk that was entered into the competition.  Great images by some amazing photographers!

During the next two weeks an overall, worldwide winner will be selected by Scott Kelby and his gang after which the voting for the People’s Choice Award will start.  Will keep you posted as things go!

Thanks again to all the walkers / photographers who joined the Melville photowalk.  We definitely gotta do it again some time!

See ya tomorrow!
