And So It Begins…

This has been coming for a long time and finally it is here – World Cup 2010!

World Cup 2010 - Wildlife Photography

Before I carry on, a shout out to Etienne Oosthuizen for his guest post yesterday.  Awesome images and great advise so if you missed it make sure to check it out.

Now if you have been anywhere in South Africa during the last few days you will know that the hype is absolutely amazing.  Flags, mirror socks and footballs everywhere.  I am the first to admit that I was a little bit skeptical about the whole thing and but I am glad to say that I was wrong.

There is an unprecedented wave of patriotism in the country and today all the years of planning comes together as the first match gets underway.  Whether you are a football fan or not, if you are in South Africa you cannot deny the excitement.  The hype.  The absolute magic that has gripped the country.

Unfortunately I will be in the bush for almost the entire duration of the World Cup but rest assured that I will be wearing my Bafana Bafana jersey when it counts!

So in the spirit of the World Cup 2010, here are a few ‘wildlife meets soccer’ images to help  get  you in that sporty vibe!  I received all these images in an email and as far as I know they are all by Maureen Hackland.

Here goes with football Friday fun!

Gotta love it!

If you are watching the soccer, enjoy!   I know I will.

If not, enjoy the vibe because I doubt there will be any escape from it!

Viva South Africa!  Viva Bafana Bafana!
