I love birding and but bird photography is a whole different ballgame. I have not done a lot of bird photography but every now and then an opportunity comes long just demands photographic attention. On our way back from a great morning out we stopped to have a look at a juvenile Pale CHanting Goshawk. The young bird was perched on a dead tree just next to the road. Now even though the sun was already quite high up in the sky we shot off a few frames and decided to wait for the raptor to take flight. We did not have to wait all that long as he took off and did a very close fly by, so much so that I had to zoom out to 135mm to fit him into the frame. Now I am all for watching, waiting and clicking the shutter once at that precise moment but with birds in flight I tend to resort to something akin to photographic warfare. Aim, track the target, fire, keep firing! I only shot four frames in this sequence and three of them turned out very well.
If you are keen on bird photography make sure to check out this week’s guest blogger on Thursday but more on that a little later!
Gotta run. See ya tomorrow!
