January 2010 – Free Wallpaper Downloads

New Year’s eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights. ~ Hamilton Wright Mabie

I hope you all had a fantastic evening and that you are enjoying the last bit of the 2009 festive season.  The few days at the end of each year is always a very strange time as we are stuck between the excesses of Xmas and the excitement of a New Year.  If you are the type who makes resolutions, good luck!  Personally I don’t make any New Year’s resolutions but I have got a few plans, hopes and even a few dreams that I plan to pursue with renewed vigor during the coming year.  Nothing new, and most of these plans have been hiding around in the back of my mind for quite some time but a few things have started falling into place which will allow me a lot more time to follow through.  Exciting stuff and you can join the journey right here on the blog!

One of the things I am going to dig into and look at this year is inspiration.  How do you keep yourself going?  When you get those days when nothing seems to work and you just cannot find anything to photograph, what do you do?  Already have many thoughts and ideas on this but am going to let this one ride and evolve as time goes.  The one way that we can keep inspiration up is to look at the wildlife images of other photographers.  On that note, a big shout out to Greg du Toit for his guest post yesterday.  Greg is an absolutely amazing photographer and his work is truly inspirational and it was great of him to share his thoughts and images here on Photo-Africa.  If you have not done so yet, make sure to visit his website to view more of his african wildlife images.  Stunning!  I am also looking forward to next week’s guest blogger and if you visit Outdoor Photo you will most definitely have seen some of his images and comments in the various galleries.  More inspiration, interesting insight and some great images but that’s all for next week.

For now, here goes with the first wallpapers downloads for 2010.  If you have been following the blog over the last few weeks you will have seen that I have also started posting free wallpaper downloads for the iPhone.  From next month I will be posting the desktop and iPhone wallpapers together at the beginning of each month.  If you missed the previous iPhone wallpapers you can download them here.

January Wallpaper Download #1

It might be a new year but I still love black & white images.  The mane on this male forms the perfect frame around the face – beautiful cat.  To download the large version (2560 x 1600) simply click on the image or you can also click here to download the small version (1280 x 800).

January Wallpaper Download #3

This was the last image I shot in 2009.  The image shows the Tswene-Tswene complex in the Madikwe Game Reserve and this was were we had sundowners as we waited for the sun to set.  To download the large version (2560 x 1600) simply click on the image or you can also click here to download the small version.

    Gorgeous as always, thank you!

(PS – the link to the large download of the last file is missing; that’s the one I wanted and I was able to get it by using the download link for the picture above and bumping it up a number.)
