Tenderness, Courage and Hope.

I was going to do, as today’s guest post, more of looking-back kinda post but hey, it’s Christmas so keeping it short and will save that post for later!

For the first time in six years Adele and I will not be working over Christmas.

At the best of times it seems that we have chosen the road less traveled and now, for the first time in six years, we are home for Christmas. This is by no means a complaint and even though we have not had the pleasure and privilege of sharing the most special time of the year with family, I would not change a single moment of the journey.

During the last few years we have twice celebrated Christmas in the Caribbean and four times in some of the most fantastic safari lodges you can imagine.  Sounds like the lifestyle of the rich and famous right?  Not quite.  Even though the scenery has been the stuff of travel brochures we were always working.  Again, no complaints at all.  Actually it’s quite the opposite.  Even though we were very far away from family we have been lucky to share Christmas with some of the most amazing friends anybody could wish for.  This is truly the stuff that memories are made of and it is at this time of year that we think back and remember special times, special moments and the people that shared them with you.  Thanks guys!

If I think of Christmas over the last few years, and also the times in between, I realize how blessed we have been.  Isn’t that what Christmas is all about?  To celebrate your blessings and everything that life has given you yet still think of the people who are not as privileged.  To think back at the many sad and difficult moments that, at the time, felt like it would never go away yet, you learnt that you are in fact capable of dealing with more that you though you could.

At Christmas time we start looking forward to another year.  Another year which brings with it the power of possibilities, hopes and dreams.  More than anything we look forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus and to carry that celebration in our hearts into the New Year.

Life is about experiences.  Living them.  Sharing them.  Remembering them.  This is what Christmas should be about even though it sometimes seem that we just go through the motions when we tell everybody to have a Merry Christmas.  Don’t just say it.  Mean it.  Share it.  Experience it.

This year Adele and I will be sharing a, relatively, quiet Christmas with family.  Lots of food, lots of laughs and sharing loads of experiences.

As we all get ready to celebrate Christmas in our own special ways I would like to extend a huge thanks to you all for all of the support this year.  It is a very humbling experience to receive all the comments, questions and emails of support.  Thank you for sharing my passion.  I look forward to sharing more of my photography and creative journey with you next year.

To end off with, one last wildlife image and my favorite quotes for this time of year.

As I sign off until Monday next week I wish you and your loved one health and happiness, peace and love and all the blessings of Christmas.

Merry Christmas and see you all on Monday! ;)

    Hello Gerry,

I hope you have a grand Christmas! This is very lovely writing! Every time someone writes with feeling and turgid emotions, the reader can immediately grasp the context.

I do love your pictures, please let me know how I can help to promote them.

    Sincere Regards from a stranger
