Ostrich Face
Madikwe Game Reserve

There aren’t too many Ostriches around Madikwe but when we do get to see them they always make for interesting photo opps. This female stood dead still for a good few minutes trying to figure us out. This gave us ample opportunity too snap away using various settings and lenses. For this shot I zoomed in tight on the face, awkward as it may be, and fired away will bracing the lens on the side of the game viewing vehicle. Since she was standing in an open clearing the background, which was quite far away, was rendered completely blurred which assist in keeping the focus on the bird. Gotta love that mouth! 
When photographing wildlife always keep your background in mind and how it will affect the feel of your image.
