Wallpaper Downloads – November 2009

Oct 31, 2009 2 Comments by Gerry

This year is flying by at a serious pace.  November already!

As you can see I have changed the five slideshow images at the top of the blog, something I will be doing each month when I upload the wallpaper downloads.  Why?  Because I can and I reckon it keeps it fresh.  I am lucky enough to see and photograph African on a daily basis so updating the slideshow with new images each month will keep the diversity going.  Which one is your favorite this month?  So far the leopard and giraffe are well in the lead!

Right, here goes with the wallpaper downloads for Novemeber 2009.  All three wallpapers are available in two sizes, 2560 x 1600 and 1560 x 800.  Oh, and they were all shot in the wild.  No baiting or luring of animals…  Check out the previous post if you have no idea what that was all about.  Sorry, couldn’t resist.  :)

Black & White Baboons

Shot this image a year or so ago and still love it.  We were sitting at a waterhole watching a troop of baboons when the tiny youngster went and sat in front of the adult, almost mimicking it exactly.  The black and white gives it a very old, almost ageless quality.  Very sweet!  To download the large version (2560 x 1600) of this wallpaper click on the image or click here for the small version (1560 x 800).

Leopard in Tree

The leopard must be one of the most sought after animals when you go on safari.  There is something truly special about this African enigma.  We found this young female doing a morning patrol of her territory.  Up and down trees the entire morning.  Beautiful to watch and absolute photographic bliss!  To download the large version (2560 x 1600) of this wallpaper click on the image or click here for the small version (1560 x 800).

Sepia Lioness

We were photographing a pride of lions doing, well, pretty much nothing.  The occasional yawn was about it but it does not always take a lot to create striking wildlife images.  This lioness suddenly lifted her head and looked off to the right.  Click.  Done.  I added the split toning in Lightroom and with her staring into the open space, an instant favorite.  To download the large version (2560 x 1600) of this wallpaper click on the image or click here for the small version (1560 x 800).

Let me know which one is your favorite and why!  Also, if you missed any of the previous months wallpapers you can view them all here.

I will be back on the blog Monday with more images and updates but for now I am getting ready to head off to the Good Food and Wine show and then tomorrow morning Adele and I will be heading out to the Magaliesberg to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.  Damn, time goes quick but what a fantastic ride!  Can’t believe that this time last year we were in Namibia for the wedding.  Great memories and really have to head back to that part of the world again.

Have a great weekend and go out and photograph something you love!  See y’all soon.
