This might not be a photography book but if you have ever thought of traveling through Africa, for photography or not, you have to read it!

I have only just begun reading No Stopping for Lions by Joanne Glynne but already I know that this is a winner. Never having been too keen on travel diary type books this one had me hooked from the beginning. Whether this is because I have a passion for Africa or whether Joanne’s style of writing is fun, easy and colorfully descriptive is not important. What is important is the way in which Joanne tells the story of her one year adventure through Africa along with her husband Neil and their trusted Toyta Land Cruiser ‘Troopy’.
Starting in Cape Town and traveling north towards Namibia, Joanne take you along for the ride as they stop in small towns, meet strange people and have to deal with challenges both on the road and in their relationship. You feel as though you were sitting in the back of the car with them. As I am still reading this book I am looking forward to the trip as we travel to Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique.
Now if you have ever been to Africa you will know that it has a way of getting under your skin. Combine the descriptive adventures in this book and you end up with an overwhelming urge to travel and photograph the scenes you are reading about. To photograph the wide array of colorful characters that you meet in the book. To photograph Africa.
If you are looking for an easy to read, funny and visually descriptive book you cannot go wrong with this one.

Until next time.
